This Month at ATDI

This month, we look at how ATDI connects technology, automation, and expertise to address increasingly complex spectrum and radio network challenges.

Leading this edition is Three Domains. One Solution: the biggest evolution of HTZ Warfare since its inception. We explore how mission planning, spectrum monitoring, and operational validation come together to create a continuous workflow across the electromagnetic spectrum.

We also cover the latest HTZ developments, highlighting new and improved capabilities across HTZ Communications and HTZ Warfare, alongside the latest additions to ATDI’s global map data library.

Automation takes centre stage in our mining feature, where we examine how BHP uses HTZ Automate to streamline repetitive RF planning as terrain and communications infrastructure change within open-pit mining environments.

Beyond product development, we provide an update on ATDI’s latest ITU activities and technical contributions, demonstrating our continued engagement in shaping international radiocommunication studies.

Finally, our team is growing. We welcome new colleagues to ATDI and highlight current opportunities to join our expanding U.S. operation.

Three Domains. One Solution.

The electromagnetic environment is increasingly congested, contested and dynamic. Effective operations require more than individual tools for RF planning or spectrum monitoring. They require these capabilities to work together, creating a continuous flow of information from planning through to operations.

At EW Live and MSPO, ATDI will demonstrate the biggest evolution of HTZ Warfare since its inception, fundamentally changing how the software supports planning and operations across the electromagnetic spectrum.

This latest generation brings together three critical domains within one integrated solution, combining HTZ Warfare and ICS Monitoring to support the operational spectrum lifecycle:

  • Mission Planning and Network Design – HTZ Warfare models the electromagnetic environment to support network design, mission planning and operational decision-making.
  • Drone Detection and Spectrum Monitoring – ICS Monitoring provides spectrum monitoring and detection capabilities, generating current RF intelligence from the operational environment.
  • Coverage Validation and Operational Feedback – RF recordings and monitoring data feed back into HTZ Warfare, enabling planned coverage and network performance to be assessed against the real-world electromagnetic environment.

The latest generation of HTZ Warfare strengthens this integrated approach with AI-assisted capabilities through HiNT, enhanced mission and network planning, and the integration of RF recordings from spectrum monitoring activities.

Automating Network Planning for Open-Pit Mines: A BNP Use Case

The mine changes. The network plan needs to keep pace. Changing terrain, new surveys, and relocated communications infrastructure can quickly affect radio coverage. Traditionally, every change means rerunning predictions and regenerating coverage maps.

HTZ Automate replaces this repetitive process with an automated workflow. Define the study once, and updated DTMs or infrastructure locations trigger new coverage calculations, maps and reports, with standardised outputs every time.

Applied within an operational mining environment, this approach keeps RF planning aligned with changing terrain while reducing repetitive engineering effort.

HTZ Automate supports LTE FDD, private mobile networks, and TETRA, with APIs that connect existing operational systems and data sources.

The result: faster network updates, consistent RF analysis and greater confidence in connectivity as the mine evolves.

Working Alongside ITU — August Snapshot

ATDI continues to contribute directly to the development of international radiocommunication regulations. Haim Mazar, representing ATDI at the ITU as Vice-Chairman of ITU-R Study Group 3, and ATDI’s spectrum experts contributed to the Revision of Recommendations ITU-R F.1245-3, F.1571 and ITU CCT terminology.

ATDI also contributed to developing ITU-R work covering:

Weather monitoring: Collection of fixed wireless link performance data to support weather-monitoring applications.

450–700 GHz fixed services: Technical and operational characteristics of fixed service applications operating across these emerging frequencies.

Interference between airborne stations in the radionavigation service and fixed service stations.

These contributions support the continued development of international spectrum and radiocommunication frameworks.

 

ATDI is growing. And so is our team.

New expertise is joining the business as we continue to expand our capabilities and international presence.

We welcome Dr Waheeda Jabbar to ATDI South Pacific, bringing expertise across wireless networks, 4G/5G, IoT and communications for mining environments.

Abdullah Altalib joins our Riyadh office as an RF Engineer, strengthening our expertise in spectrum management, radar engineering, interference analysis and aeronautical communications.
