Effective spectrum coordination is essential to reliable military communications, especially during multinational operations when NATO and allied forces must operate in an increasingly congested electromagnetic environment.
To address these challenges, ATDI has expanded ICS Manager to support the Spectrum Management Data Exchange Format (SMADEF), linking NATO spectrum coordination data with advanced RF engineering analysis.
The new functionality lets users import SMADEF XML files directly into ICS Manager, where they can store, review, and manage them in a central database. Users can then transfer this information to HTZ for detailed technical analysis, including radio coverage, interference assessment, and frequency compatibility studies.
Once the analysis is complete, the results can update the relevant records in ICS Manager before exporting the revised information in SMADEF XML format, completing the coordination workflow.
For NATO and allied defence organisations, this integration offers significant practical benefits. By linking standardised spectrum data exchange with technical analysis, it reduces manual data handling, improves information consistency, and supports more informed frequency-assignment decisions.
The ability to exchange, assess and update spectrum information through a connected workflow is particularly valuable during multinational operations, where effective coordination is critical to reducing interference risks and maintaining communications interoperability.
By integrating SMADEF with HTZ's RF analysis capabilities, ICS Manager bridges the gap between spectrum administration and technical engineering. This strengthens its role as a central spectrum management platform while providing NATO and its allies with a more efficient, consistent and technically informed approach to spectrum coordination.
